Scottish rockers, The Fratellis return to touring after a 5 year break with a show at Venue in Vancouver. The band, Jon, Barry and Mince had a lot of tunes to catch up on, supporting their latest album We Need Medicine. The sold out show, was filled with a diverse audience of wildly enthusiastic fans. As with many British bands the expats, young and old, come out in force to catch a big act from ‘home’ in a intimate setting. They were rewarded with an exciting and energetic show although there was some sound issues with lead singer Jon’s microphone, much to his chagrin as he mentioned it was “getting on his tits”.
The nearly two hour show included tracks from their three studio albums; Costello Music, Here We Stand and We Need Medicine as well as a couple of brand new tracks debuted for the Vancouver audience. Most Vancouverites, especially hockey fans, know The Fratellis best known song Chelsea Dagger as the Chicago Blackhawks goal song, the source of many Boos over the years. Thankfully the Venue audience cheered the song as they reminded them how great the track sounded live.
The Fratellis wrapped up their US/Canada dates last night in Atlanta and now head to Japan and Australia for the spring and back to Europe for the summer festival season.
