Get juicing at Just Juice Bar

The new Just Juice Bar, opening this morning, on the corner of Davie & Thurlow Streets is a healthy oasis in an area surrounded by bakeries, coffee bars and quick food restaurants.
There is a lot of talk of the health benefits of juicing in the media and from healthy living advocates but many people, like me, may not know where to begin with their fruit and vegetable combinations.  That’s where owners Reza Ghafori and TJ Cooke come in, their backgrounds in kinesiology, health and fitness combined with a bartending experience make them the perfect guys behind the Just Juice Bar.  While TJ mixes the juice cocktails and smoothies he enthusiastically extolls the virtues of the combined ingredients will have on your well-being.

Whether you’re starting your day with a seasonal “Berry-Anne” smoothie, “Pink Lady” signature presse or recovering from the night before with an “After-Party”  blend, they know just the right combination of fruits and veggies to get your body what it needs. The guys have a mandate to try to use as much local, organic and whole foods as possible so their products give the maximum health benefits.
Last night they opened the doors for a preview and everything we sampled was great; fresh and bright “Sooth & Smooth” (watermelon, aloe vera, mint & lime), rich and decadent “Pina-Ava-Coco-Gaga” (coconut water, milk & meat, Avocado, vanilla & pineapple) or hearty, protein filled “Choco-Awesome” (almond milk, peanut & apple butter, raw cocoa, honey, banana, apple & VEGA Protein).
With their bartending background the creations are all treated like juice mixology, in fact they offer a few juice versions of classic cocktails; Mojito, Margaritas, Old Fashioned and Caesars.  Perfect for a liquid weekend brunch!
In spite of the name, Just Juice Bar is not just juice, they will also serve; freshly made deli sandwiches using GMO-Free, local meats and bread from Beyond Bread Artisan Bakery, yoghurt, oatmeal, fruit salads, energy balls and cookies, and ‘To Die For Banana Bread’.  Everything you need to get your morning off to a healthy start and keep it going throughout the day. I wish I still lived nearby so I could visit more often but when I’m in the West End, I’ll definitely stop by for a drink.

Stop by today at 10 to check out the grand opening, Just Juice Bar is located at 1107 Davie Street (at Thurlow)
