Since this summer’s weather isn’t really cooperating to make us feel the heat, it may be a perfect time to head in to catch a movie at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. The VQFF plus more highlight the picks of the week:
Movie: You’ll be seeing yellow for Wednesday movie night at Lansdowne Centre Starlight Cinema, park your car for an old-fashioned drive-in style evening or bring a lawn chair to watch Minions.
Bingo: It’s a steal when violent vixens Carlotta Gurl and Mina Mercury pay tribute to Suicide Squad with Suicide Bingo: Good Gurls Gone Bad, Wednesday at Celebrities.

Fest: The 28th annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival is the city’s second largest film festival and brings over 80 films to the screen starting tomorrow August 11th until August 20th
Session: the second Light Organ Records Railtown Session takes place Friday, highlighting local artist Andy Bishop
Kicks: Vancouver Whitecaps return to BC Place with some new players and a hope to return to winning ways when they host San Jose on Friday
Snow: Swedish indie-pop trio Miike Snow play The Orpheum Theatre on Friday evening.
Stars: Now held over until August 27th, Theatre Under The Stars presents West Side Story and Beauty and The Beast at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park.
Pride: Saturday the New West Pride Columbia Street Party fills the street with Drag and Carnival entertainment, Beer Gardens, Food Trucks and more from 3 – 8pm on Columbia Street.
Party: Follow up the street party with a drag Extravaganza Eleganza at The Columbia, a kitchy, adult night of entertainment, with the Pride After Partyto wrap up the night
