While it’s too late to catch Sequence 8 during its run at PuSh Festival 2015, if you have a chance to see it this show definitely ranks a ‘must see’. All of the performances, plus the added Saturday matinee, have sold out and drawn ample waitlists as people clamoured to see the show at the Vancouver Playhouse.
Presented with Vancouver’s Théâtre la Seizième and Tom Lightburn, and produced by Les 7 droits de la main/7 Fingers, a Montreal based collaborative of circus performers, founded on a goal to bring “circus to a human scale”. The 8 performers in Sequence 8 brought decades of tumbling, acrobatics, trapeze, dance and other circus pursuits to the stage.
This show is a collection of all those pursuits assembled together by dance and humourous scripted pieces between the stunning solos highlighting each of the performers specialities. Each one is spectacular, breathtaking and mesmerizing in their talent, making the complexity seem simple. Spontaneous applause, gasps and laughter followed throughout the 90 minute performance. It’s hard to describe so take a look at the trailer for an glimpse at the show.
Sequence 8 has wrapped its run at the PuSh Festival and is now headed on tour across the USA, if you get a chance to see it you won’t be disappointed.
