This spring the city was filled with the creative and artistic works from Capture Photography Festival. One of the highlights that brought awareness of the Festival and allowed everyone to enjoy the works was the Public Installations like those all along the Canada Line.
Carrying on in the footsteps of those projects, the City of Richmond Public Art Program is collaborating with the Capture Photography Festival to seek photography-based submissions for the No. 3 Road Art Columns at Lansdowne and Aberdeen Canada Line Stations.
Artists and artist teams are invited to submit their ideas on the theme Growing and Rising. The Public Art Program encourages artists residing in British Columbia to submit a proposal for new work that considers the ongoing relationship between the natural landscapes of Richmond and the City’s rapidly growing built environment.
There is the opportunity for six artists to be be selected for this project, enclosing the columns of the elevated SkyTrain Stations. Each successful artist will receive a fee of $1,500 CAD to produce four (4) print-ready digital artwork files.
The deadline for Submissions is Monday, October 3, 2016 with the
two part exhibition taking place February–July 2017 (part 1) and August 2017–January 2018 (part 2)
