Urbanears Re:Plattan

plattan_pax_packagingThe earphones that we know for giving us great sound and comfort are now giving back to the planet. Urbanears introduces the Re:Plattan – the perfect pair of headphones to listen to a “feel-good” playlist and feel good while doing it. These eco-friendly headphones are made from unused parts from previous seasons of Plattan.
But the best part of all? A portion of Costa Rican Rainforest will be protected with the purchase of each pair!  Each pair of Re:Plattans contains a built in personal ID with GPS coordinates that cover 5 square meters of rainforest. As soon as the headphones are purchased that specific area is protected.
500 ants, 10 flowers, 5 spiders and 2 butterflies call each protected section of rainforest home – not to mention birds, trees, endangered frogs or maybe even a jaguar! Now that’s something to feel good about!

The Re:Plattan is a colourful, patchwork pair of headphones packed with all the classic Urbanears features you’ve come to expect; rich, secluded sound, easy fold down ability and the ZoundPlug, allowing you to share music with a friend.

If you want to help save even more of the rainforest in Costa Rica, like their Facebook page through the Re:Plattan campaign tab. Urbanears will match every ‘like’ with a donation to Pax to help protect another square meter of rainforest.

Get a look at the new Re: Plattan and feel good about what’s on your ears.

12 Days Of Christmas Gift Ideas – Day 6

After weeks of Christmas Carols and Jingle Bells ringing in your ears, you & the people on your list may want to plug in your own music instead.

Urbanears_redDon’t settle for those poor sounding earphones that were included with your portable music device or phone.

You only have one set of ears and they deserve to be treated with respect, so does the music you let them hear. Sweden’s Urbanears makes a wide range of in-the-ear, over-ear, on-the-ear style earphones so something is bound to ‘fit’ your list.
Get some great sound, cool design and amazing fit for a reasonable price (around $65) with Urbanears Medis. Once I had a chance to try them, I’ve never wanted to use any other earphone, especially when using them to work out.

If you’re looking for something equally as stylish and good quality sound but a lower price point. Again the Swedish style wins out with the newly introduced Coloud ear and headphones. Besides sounding and looking good a great feature with this line is the no-tangle cord, this cord eliminates that knotted mess when we pull out our earphones.Coloud

Whichever line you choose, you’re gift of sound will literally be music to the ears of those on your list.

UrbanEars Medis – review

Recently, I’ve had the pleasure to use a pair of Urbanears Medis Plus for a couple of weeks and I’m very impressed. I’ve tried lots of earphones and these are without a doubt my favourite so far.  Like the rest of the Urbanears line, the Medis are a great sounding, great fitting and stylish earphone but their unique features make them even better.

The sound of Urbanears is impressive throughout the whole line, these are no exception.  The Apple approved microphone and remote also act as volume control, the supplied add-on cable ensures that the earphones work well in standard 3.5 mm jacks without any distorition.  The Urbanears fabric cord makes the long cable easy to detangle even when thrown messily into my gym bag.  The molded earbuds are comfortably formed to sit in your ears but it’s Medis patented EarClick construction that’s the winning feature, each pair comes with 4 sets of silicone sizers that hooks the earphone to your ear, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit. I’ve worn these to work out at the gym everyday since getting them and whether it’s cardio or weightlifting, they have yet to fall out of my ear, unlike the multiple sets that have come before.  This is a common complaint of most earphones and the reason some people choose to wear full, over the head ‘earmuff’ style headphones which I just think are too bulky and in the way for a good work out.  With the Medis, you get great sound like a full headphone and still don’t need to worry about them falling out, the perfect earphone for active people.

Summer Festival Style For Guys

Coachella Music & Arts Festival has wrapped up and kicked-off to the summer festival season.  If you haven’t already planned your summer’s festival festivities there’s still time. After deciding which festivals to attend, the next big item on the checklist will be what to pack. You need to be prepared for everything but still need to pack light & look awesome.
We’ve compiled a few hot, new ‘must have’ items that should be in every guys kit.
1. Sunglasses are the absolute must have for festival style and practicality. The versatile accessory helps you look hot and mysterious, protects your sensitive hungover eyes from the glaring sun, they also help you discreetly scope out the festival ‘scenery’.  These Compressor shades from Vestal’s Spring 2012 collection are a perfect basic but stylin’ pair.
2. A selection of tees and tanks are a staple for every guys bag. These 100% Organic Cotton tanks from Industry Of All Nations are ready for anything with the soft, richly coloured, using 100% natural dyes, shirts that go from day to night.
3. Hard wearing, sturdy but super stylish the Vestal Utilitarian watch can take whatever you throw at it during the festival weekend.
4. There comes a time when you’re back at your tent or room and you just need to chill, relive your fave music memories through a pair of Urbanears Medis, designed to stay in your ear and provide great sound, you can block out whatever your tentmate is getting up to
5. Dancing up a storm in a mosh pit or dance tent can be hot business, shorts are a must, plus you’ve been working out all winter, it’s time to show off those legs. These great organic selvedge denim shorts from Industry Of All Nations are a classic cut and in an array of wicked colours they’re a great way to make a statement.
6. When night or the rain falls you may need to get out the long pants, throw on a pair of Neuw Black Colour Jeans, a sharp alternative to indigo, these bold denim are made with a black base thread to give them a great depth of colour. With styles named after music icons, like Iggy Skinny, Lou Slim and Johnny Tapered, their new style vintage revisions are made for festival goers.
7. Your hair is the accessory that’s always with you and one of the first things the ladies look at, keep it fresh with Gritty Business from Kevin Murphy. The tough and pliable product is beeswax based so it stands up to pesky drizzle and easy to remold the next morning.
8. Footwear takes up the largest space in your bag so you need to limit what you carry, be prepared for anything with cool,  lightweight and easy to pack Borstal Mesh kicks from Generic Surplus.
10. Every mom tells their son to wear fresh socks & underwear in case of emergencies, hopefully you won’t have an emergency at the fest but if someone does get the chance to see your ‘basics’ make sure they are fresh to death…Stance Socks are super styling and Saxx Underwear are lightweight and constructed to keep your equipment well supported front and centre.
