Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – The Commodore Ballroom – May 24, 2013
A full house was on hand for a night of rock as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) took on the venerable Commodore Ballroom stage. Promoting their recently released “Specter At The Feast” album, the threesome blasted the room for their hour plus set. One of the few bands to feature a female drummer, Leah Shapiro banged out hard beats to keep singers, bassist Robert Levon Been and guitarist Peter Hayes on track throughout the night. After 7 albums and more than a decade of performing the band knows how to keep their crowd happy. BRMC’s brand of straight ahead rock draws a wide demographic of audience, the diverse crowd fulling enjoying their night out. From the typically ‘Vancouver’ smell of the smoke in the air, some were enjoying their night out a little harder than others and most were putting the Commodore’s sprung dance floor to good use. Other than a slow-tempo piano solo track from Been and a solo from Hayes the rest of the night was a full on rock explosion.
