Since 1966 the BC Sports Hall Of Fame & Museum has been the curator and caretaker of British Columbia’s sports history. Housed since 1993 in BC Place Stadium, after decades housed at the PNE, the Sports Hall recently re-opened after the 20month closure while BC Place renovated and installed the new roof. Located beside Gate A the Hall is home to the worlds largest collection of 2010 Olympic & Paralympic memorabilia and the Hall Of Champions, showcasing the 325 individuals and 55 teams inducted into the Hall Of Fame since 1966.
More than just a museum the Hall is an interactive and inclusive place for all BC sports fans to enjoy and be inspired by the provinces great sports stories. Exhibits include the Aboriginal Sport Gallery – highlighting the achievements of BC’s aboriginal community, Heroes Galleries dedicated to Terry Fox and Rick Hansen, Greg Moore Gallery an interactive gallery showcasing the late race car driver. Our Teams, Our Turf is a hall devoted to Vancouver’s three professional sports teams; BC Lions, Whitecaps FC and Vancouver Canucks.
The Hall also features the Participation Zone, a play place with interactive games such as a rotating climbing wall, multi-sport simulator, 14 meter timed running track, bubble hockey, and more, it’s the perfect place for a birthday party or staff event. Every British Columbian should take a look at the province’s rich history of sport, next time you’re at BC Place go a bit earlier and check it out.
