Donald Margulies’ Time Stands Still is on stage this autumn presented by Curious Cats Theatre Collective, the Vancouver non-profit society dedicated to producing entertaining and thought-provoking theatre. Directed by Curious Cats’ co-artistic directors Maryth Gilroy & Karen Hamm Time Stands Still is playing October 14-25 at Jericho Arts Centre.
Featuring Charlotte Billing, Sandra Medeiros, David Nuamah, Roger Watts the play follows Sarah, a photojournalist, who, after being seriously injured in an overseas roadside bomb, returns home to her longtime partner, James, a foreign correspondent, who is navigating his own war-induced emotional trauma. Together they attempt to adjust to a new domesticated life, alongside their editor and mentor Richard and his younger girlfriend, Mandy. The Tony Award-nominated Time Stands Still is a gritty and compelling examination on the emotional and moral consequences of war, love, humanity and whether certain desires and images can ever really be erased.
The acclaimed playwright, Donald Margulies won the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Dinner with Friends and was a finalist for Sight Unseen and Collected Stories. His many plays, which include Long Lost, The Country House, Shipwrecked! An Entertainment, Brooklyn Boy, the Tony Award-nominated Time Stands Still and the Obie Award-winning The Model Apartment, have been produced on and off-Broadway and in theatres across the United States and around the world.

Accompanying the play will be a photography exhibit, in the Jericho Arts Centre lobby, themed “Time Stands Still.” Participating artists include Christopher Dellinger, Andrew Fraser, Leanne Jijian Hume, Dominique Labrosse, and Kyrani Kanavaros.
