For one-night only, Time Will Tell Arts Society presents Rivers of Rhythm: Trichy Sankaran in Concert, at the ANNEX on Thursday, October 29.

South Indian percussion virtuoso, Sankaran, leads an ensemble of local musicians; Raman Kalyan (Carnatic flute), Curtis Andrews, his longtime student (percussion), and Jared Burrows (electric guitar). The quartet deliver a Carnatic (South Indian classical) repertoire – works from the 18th century – as well as Sankaran’s own compositions. The program also includes Sankaran performing a solo on the mridangam, an ancient, double-headed barrel-shaped hand drum that holds a holy place in South Indian music and dance.
Since arriving in Canada in 1971, Sankaran has shared his artistry around the world and across genres from Carnatic music, Jazz, Gamelan, African music, to Contemporary Classical Music and improvisation. Rivers of Rhythm offers Vancouver audiences the chance to hear this master percussionist and one of the best mridangam players.
Rivers of Rhythm: Trichy Sankaran in Concert, presented by Time Will Tell Arts Society, takes the stage on Thursday, October 26, 2026 at the ANNEX, 823 Seymour Street. Adult tickets are $30 and children $10, find details and tickets online at Vtix Online
