Journey – Rogers Arena – July 11, 2015
Saturday night, Rogers Arena was filled with the sounds of late 70’s and 80’s nostalgia as Journey’s latest tour made a stop in Vancouver.
While still considered ‘new’ by many, lead singer Arnel Pineda, celebrating 8 years with the band, filled the arena with his boundless energy and great vocals. Pineda provides a link with the veteran members of the band and their fans with the newer Pinoy fans he shouted out to during the show, everyone finding joy in singing along to the classics pop tunes like Separate Ways, Open Arms, Faithfully, Any Way You Want It and of course, Don’t Stop Believing.
While many of their contemporaries are relegated to playing the Casino circuit, Journey has managed to parlay the pop culture appeal of Don’t Stop Believing into an arena filling resurgence.
While the crowds might not be as large, or as young, when everyone is singing along you can believe that you’re in the band’s heydays.
Journey’s Canadian Tour continues with stops in venues large and small across the country until August 3rd. Catch them if you can and don’t stop believing.
