On March 31 turn out any unnecessary lights and join millions of people united to protect the planet. Organized the World Wildlife Fund for Nature and held annually on the last Saturday of March from 8:30pm to 9:30pm, Earth Hour is aimed to raise awareness of the impact of climate change. The movement began in Sydney, Australia in 2007 with the city’s 2.2million citizens turning out the lights for an hour. Cities around the world followed suit the next year and it’s grown each year since. Helping make maximum impact, some of the worlds best loved landmarks turn off the lights too, the Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Vatican, Great Wall Of China, United Nations and even the Las Vegas Strip will go dark for the hour.
