Until December 24th, The Firehall Arts Centre presents Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre production of A Christmas Carol. Gather around the fire as star Sanjay Talwar recounts Dickens’ classic performing all 40 characters in this one-man performance.

Upon entering the atmospheric theatre, Hans Saefkow’s charming set welcomes audiences to a cozy Victorian sitting room from where the Shaw/Stratford Festival veteran Sanjay will bring life to Scrooge, Cratchit, the Ghosts of Marley, Christmases Past, Present and Yet To Come, plus a host of others passing London citizens. His energetic pacing keeps the show lively, but his comforting voice(s) as he narrates A Christmas Carol nestles the viewer like a comfy chair for story-time. Like a family gathering for an old time radio play come to life, the Firehall Arts Centre allows audiences to share in this intimate experience.

Jacob Richmond’s direction leads the production with Rebekah Johnson’s lighting, and Alex Wlasenko’s sound design providing the variety of time and place needed to recreate all of Scrooge’s adventures as the Ghosts lead him throughout his life. Even if you feel like you’ve seen A Christmas Carol plenty of times, seeing Sanjay Talwar deliver this powerhouse performance is like seeing it for the first time.
