Gomez – Commodore Ballroom – September 26, 2011
Brit indie rockers Gomez filled the Commodore Ballroom with their unique blend of pop, rock & blues. The Southport quintet had the dedicated audience enthralled as they ran through their set. Although not the most interactive group the Gomez boys still managed to reach into the audience with their performance and create an energetic vibe. Unusual in their ability to switch instruments and have multiple lead singers gives them a wider range of musicality, finding a singer and arrangements to match the songs, which range from straight forward rock to melodic pop and traditional blues. The wide variety of styles seems to appeal to a much wider audience too, the crowd was surprisingly multi-generational, different genres appealing to different groups but everyone coming together for a great time.
