On our recent visit to Harrison Hot Springs for The Harrison Festival of the Arts, Billy and I tried to check out a variety of the local eateries. While the Festival’s Beach Stage was surrounded by festival goers, we ventured across the street to Morgan’s Bistro, the simple, modern eatery has a perfect vantage point over looking the beach and stage across the street, allowing us to enjoy the band with dinner.
A well laid out menu had a nice selection of meat, seafood and salads. West Coast comfort foods like short ribs, beef tenderloin, lamb, spaghetti & meatballs, halibut, steamed mussels, sat along a decent wine and cocktail list.
While waiting for our meal, we enjoyed a couple of refreshing martinis under the hot sun while listening to the Festival stage. The food arrived quite quickly, Billy ordered the evening’s feature, steamed mussels and clams whilst I had the spaghetti and lamb meatballs, both hearty portions were nicely prepared, with good flavours. The little bundle of yam fries topping the mussels and clams were a nice crisp offset to the savoury preparation. The meatballs were in a rich ragu atop al dente pasta making a familiar favourite a home-cooked feel.
If it hadn’t been for the exceptional late day heat on the sunny patio, we’d have lingered longer over some more cocktails and enjoyed the view and music. However, the need for shade took over and we were on our way but will return again when in Harrison Hot Springs.
