Mother Mother – Commodore Ballroom – May 5, 2011
Playing the second of two sold out nights in Vancouver, the first at The Vogue Theatre, local band Mother Mother had the crowd eating out of their hands.
Like every good audience they listened to their Mother Mother and were taken along on a great pop-rock ride.
With three singers, Ryan Guldemond on guitar & vocals, Molly Guldemond on vocals & keyboard and Jasmin Parkin on keyboard & vocals, whose voices fit so well together they seem as one on some tracks. Band founder and lead Ryan, chatted quite a bit to the audience making sure they were having a good time and seeming genuinely thankful for he reception they’ve received.
As with many local bands the audience was very diverse as their devoted friends and family came out to support, sing and dance along to the quintet. Some songs like The Stand and O My Heart generated huge reception from the audience as they sang along and put the Commodore Ballroom’s famous dancefloor to work bouncing along. O My Heart brought back many memories from the Vancouver 2010 Olympics as it was featured nightly in the Ignite The Dream pyrotechnics show at Robson Square (which I personally saw at least every night!)
It was great to see such an awesome turnout for a band that deserves the attention and hopefully gets it as they continue their tour.
