New Westminster’s Anvil Theatre, Massey Theatre and Eighth & Eight Creative Spaces have pulled back the curtain to announce what is coming to their stages for their 2026/27 seasons. Across the three venues, New Westminster welcomes a host of award-winning arts from around the world and here at home, creative tribute acts and interactive events.
As renovations continue at The Massey Theatre and Eighth & Eight Creative Spaces complex, there will be a five month closure from July to November but Anvil Theatre will continue to offer great entertainment until the others reopen bringing back Massey Theatre’s fan favourites International Guitar Night and Ballet Jörgen’s Swan Lake, as well as Eighth & Eight’s Reading Theatre Series and other educational and entertaining events.

An Out of the Forest Theatre production
Andrew and Abby Borden are found dead in Fall River, Massachusetts, August 1892. Their daughter Lizzie is the main suspect. Set to bluegrass music and murder ballads, Bury The Hatchet fuses gallows humour with vaudevillian horror to re-examine one of history’s most infamous murder cases in a theatrical experience you won’t want to miss! Terrell Edwards: A Night of Motown
Terrell Edwards is back by popular demand, this time with A Night of Motown, taking us back to one of the most memorable times in music history. Motown is not only the greatest pop music hit factory ever heard, but a state of mind, a way of life, a style, the “Sound of Young America.” The distinctive, upbeat and uplifting music brought together pop and soul, white and black, and old and young, like never before and continues to this day.

Ballet BC Annex
Ballet BC Annex is the junior ensemble of Canada’s leading contemporary dance company, Ballet BC–a cohort of pre-professional artists currently training with Vancouver’s Modus Operandi and Arts Umbrella Dance. Each season, they bring world-class dance repertoire to local and regional schools and community venues. This time, Ballet BC Annex will share a triple bill of three exciting works, including world premieres by Canadian choreographer Cameron Fraser-Monroe and Ballet BC company dancer Michael Garcia.

Imago/Obsidian
Imago/Obsidian is an extraordinary evening of contemporary aerial performance featuring two internationally acclaimed works that blur the boundaries between circus, dance, and visual theatre. Obsidian is by French artist Melkior Arthur, a haunting aerial solo performed on a sculptural apparatus of the artist’s own design. Imago by Vancouver-based company Corpo Imago, is an award-winning contemporary aerial dance duet that was celebrated at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Together, these works create a mesmerizing, shared journey through suspension, shedding, and becoming—where aerial performance becomes a language of visual poetry.

International Guitar Night
International Guitar Night (IGN), the world’s premier touring acoustic guitar festival is back! This 2027 tour continues IGN’s tradition of bringing audiences the best acoustic guitarists from around the world and features classical and flamenco guitarist Itamar Erez (Canada), classical guitarist Victoria Ruiz de la Rubia (Spain), fretless guitar pioneer and jazz artist Cenk Erdo?an (Türkiye), and contemporary blues and jazz manouche master, Remi Harris (UK).

Ballet Jörgen’s Swan Lake
Experience the timeless magic of Swan Lake with this Canadian take on the beloved, romantic yet haunting classic — set in Cape Breton. Ballet Jörgen delivers graceful choreography, striking visuals, and emotional storytelling performed by some of the country’s best dancers. Through Ballet Jörgen’s Youth Participant Program, local performers may have the rare opportunity to share the stage in this show.
