The American Memorial Day weekend always brings in influx of visitors across the border as our southern neighbours kick off their summer season.
Roadtrip: the big event of the weekend for people on both sides of the border is the Sasquatch Music Festival at The Gorge in George, Washington. Heading up the line-up is Mumford & Sons, The Postal Service, The xx, Sigur Ros, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Lumineers, Elvis Costello and many, many more.
Show: With so many great bands just across the border, a number of them will trek to this side for an additional performance. One of the biggest gigs is set for Holland Park in Surrey as Mumford & Sons perform an outdoor show on Friday evening as part of their Calgary>Telluride Tour.
Gig: If a smaller show is more your speed, then head to The Biltmore Cabaret on Thursday night as Sealed With A Kiss Presents an evening of great young bands; Akron/Family, Avi Buffalo, & M Geddes Gengras.
Cruise: Truly launch into summer with the Cruisey-T Kick-Off Cruise on Sunday May 26th as DJ Drew & Matthilda Ho spin the tunes and Joan-E and Iona Whipp whip up some exciting Drag performances.
Parade: Hop of the Skytrain to New Westminster on Saturday May 25th to take in the 42nd Annual International Hyack Parade and Festival. Travelling through Uptown to Queen’s Park the parade begins at 11am and kicks off a day of entertainment and family fun. Stay and watch Uptown Live! indie music concert festival featuring The Belle Game, Good For Grapes, Buckman Coe and many more BC artists.
Stage: This is the final weekend to catch How To Write A New Book For The Bible onstage at the Pacific Theatre before is closes on May 25th.
Stand-up: returning to his first career, late night host Jay Leno visits the Red Robinson Show Theatre in Boulevard Casino for two stand-up comedy performances on May 25th.
