After a month of deliberation, the Polaris Prize jury has announced their choices for this year’s Short List. In June the 200 jurists, consisting of independent music journalists, broadcasters and bloggers from across the country selected their top 40 Long List, now they have just 10 remaining finalists on the Short List. Unveiled this week at the Drake Hotel in Toronto the Short List includes:

Kathleen Edwards, Voyageur
Feist, Metals
Fucked Up, David Comes To Life
Grimes, Visions
Handsome Furs, Sound Kapital
Japandroids, Celebration Rock

Next step is the Polaris Gala, to be held at the CTV Concert Hall in Toronto’s Masonic Temple on September 24, where a Grand Jury made up of 11 Polaris jurors will reveal which one of the 10 Short List albums they will declare 2012’s best Canadian album.
