Victoria’s music event of the year, Rifflandia, celebrated it’s fourth festival by taking the music outside and
expanding beyond the traditional night time venues.
As though on cue, the dubious West Coast morning clouds broke and brilliant sunshine arrived to smile on the two festival stages. Royal Athletic Park was an excellent setting for the fest’s first venture outdoors. Surrounded by some of Victoria’s great food vendors, a spacious Phillips Brewery beer garden, festival merchants and media tents the large main and second stages soon filled with an expectant audience.
They didn’t have to wait long for some great music. Throughout the weekend the Park featured bands like; The Cave Singers, Mother Mother, Broken Social Scene, Cold War Kids, City and Colour, Gomez, Daniel Wesley and De La Soul. The sounds of Rifflandia filed the skies of Victoria until dusk when the music and fans moved indoors to the various night time venues.
