The 2024 Vancouver International Jazz Festival fills the city with music June 21 to 30, 2024. Ensuring everyone has the opportunity to take in the sounds of summer, Coastal Jazz recently announced some of its free programming including 20 Downtown Jazz shows on two stages outside the Vancouver Art Gallery June 22 and June 23, and across Granville Island venues from June 21 to 30.
The 2024 Festival also features programming at six downtown venues as part of its Club Series and five North Shore locations as part of the North Shore Jazz Series presented by the BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts at Capilano University.
Following a full day of shows by local and international artists on Saturday, June 22, Downtown Jazz wraps up with a headlining performance by Kassa Overall, a jazz drummer, rapper and producer who has been called “one of modern jazz music’s most audacious futurists” (Pitchfork).
Hip hop returns to the Downtown Jazz Georgia Street stage Sunday, June 23 with a closing night performance by Odario, who also DJs as Odario Williams After Dark over the weekend at Ocean Artworks. Granville Island Jazz venues, Performance Works, Ocean Artworks and the Revue Stage, host various free events that include an author talk, jazz performances and late-night DJ sets.
