Vancouver’s Sound of Dragon Society brings the 6th annual Sound of Dragon Music Festival to The Annex and Roundhouse Exhibition Hall from May 23rd to 26th. The festival redefines Chinese music with ground-breaking cross-cultural collaboration through three concerts and free community events.
“This is the 6th annual Sound of Dragon Festival in Vancouver where we bring Chinese music and instruments with Canadian influences,” says Lan Tung, Sound of Dragon Society. “We’ve planned performances and free events, including jams and workshops, where musicians and fans of music can gather and do what we do best – create new music together.”
The Sound of Dragon Society preserves ancient traditions of Chinese music, and through the Festival, celebrates diversity, creativity and innovation by presenting musicians, ensembles, and composers from various ethnicities, nationalities, and musical genres. Utilizing unique cross-cultural instrumentations and contemporary applications of music, Sound of Dragon redefines “Chinese music” reflecting Vancouver’s multicultural environment and highly creative music scene.
