Arctic Monkeys – Orpheum Theatre – September 28, 2011
On tour in support of their 4th studio album “Suck it And See”, Arctic Monkeys stopped by Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre. With a few years of touring now under their belts the Monkeys are showing more maturity on stage but they haven’t lost their youthful exuberance. Lead singer Alex Turner has definitely grown, both figuratively and physically, gone is the petulant little boy-playing-rock star and in his place is a real rock star, confident in his abilities and

enjoying himself onstage.
Entering the stage to the strains of Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing” the 4 piece, whipped through songs from all 4 of their albums. Their short 60 minute set included major hits like; “I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor”, “When The Sun Goes Down”, “Brainstorm”, “Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I Moved Your Chair” all getting lots of audience participation. With many of the bands tracks being quite short the set may have been limited in time it didn’t feel limited in the amount of tunes played. I don’t think anyone felt shortchanged unless they were clock-watching and noticed the minutes but with the entertainment happening onstage checking the time wasn’t top of mind.
