Vancouver Canucks vs Minnesota Wild – Roger’s Arena – April 7, 2011
The final home game of the regular season is always a special one. Sometimes it’s bittersweet if the team hasn’t made the playoffs, other times there’s excitement in anticipation of a playoff run to come. This night was the later…the Canucks are best team in the league, having earned the President’s Trophy for the first time in club history. The final also is the occasion to announce the Canucks Team Awards. Members of the 82-83 Canucks team, who made it to the Stanley Cup final, were on hand to help present the following Canuck team awards to this seasons players.

Walter (Babe) Pratt – “Best Defenceman”: Christian Ehrhoff
Most Exciting Player: Ryan Kesler
Fred J. Hume – “Unsung Hero “: Jannik Hansen
Molson Cup Trophy: “Most Molson Cup Selections” Roberto Luongo
Cyrus McLean – “Leading Scorer “: Daniel Sedin
A huge round of applause came about when fan-favourite, and fresh from eye surgery, Manny Malhotra came out to help recognize the President’s Trophy win.
After a couple of lackluster losses against the lowly Edmonton Oilers everyone was hoping The Canucks would bounce back and put on a good game for the home fans (one of the most devoted fan bases in the NHL). Indeed the team did not disappoint…cruising to a 5-0 win over the Wild.
As if a great game shared with a great friend, Brian Webb, wasn’t enough we had the added bonus of being invited up to watch from the Metropolis Hot Seats box by our friends at Metropolis at Metrotown. The Metropolis Hot Seats have an amazing from the 5th level, you get to see everything (and everyone), with a great spread of food and soft drinks and of course good company. It was nice to catch up some old and meet some new Tweeps; in addition to @MetropolisatMet in attendance was @maryinvancity @swong16 @Miss604 @johnbollwitt @amienguyen @MissAboutTown @HeadtotheNet @gutsmctavish24
Even Canuck mascot FIN stopped by to help us cheer on the team!
