Since 1979, Arts Umbrella has been a non-profit centre for arts education where young artists ages 2–22 can develop their creativity in Art & Design, Dance, and Theatre, Music & Film. This month, the Theatre, Music & Film department is showcasing the talents of their students through a series of performances in their Winter Shorts Festival and the Dance department student bring Mixed Nuts to the stage.
Winter Shorts takes the stage at the Arts Umbrella’s, Jack and Darlene Poole Theatre. This past Winter Shorts Weekend the Theatre & Sketch Comedy and Improv students brought laughter to the stage to show audiences what they’ve been working on over the semester. Watching three levels of student skills and ages was a joy to see the excitement and enjoyment on the faces of both the students and audiences.
December 8-10 is the Musical Theatre Winter Shorts Weekend and December 16 brings the Film Department Winter Shorts Screening.
Musical Theatre Winter Shorts finds the different classes and levels in multiple-performance on Friday at 7pm, Saturday and Sunday at 3pm & 7pm. The Film Winter Shorts Screening takes place Saturday December 16 at 7pm. Tickets are available online at artsumbrella.com/winter-shorts
Taking the Vancouver Playhouse stage, December 15 at 7pm, December 16 at 2pm & 7pm and December 17 at 2pm, the Arts Umbrella Dance Company presents Mixed Nuts, a modern and entertaining take on Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. Bringing together an eclectic assortment of dance styles Mixed Nuts offers audiences a special annual holiday treat. Tickets are available online at artsumbrella.com/mixed-nuts.
