Colin James – Lobby Lounge at Fairmont Pacific Rim – April 12, 2011
In celebration of the release of Take It From The Top: The Best Of Colin James, Colin James has performed a series of exclusive, private events across Canada. Wrapping up at home Vancouver, James played a set of his hits in the stunning Fairmont Pacific Rim Lobby Lounge. The full-house of lucky guests were treated to great evening of music, drink and food.
The Fairmont chef’s served a selection of fresh sushi, canapés and tasty cups of butter chicken along with a Sweet & Sour Martini or Sumac Ridge wines. As guests arrived they were welcomed by the sounds of local indie artist Colin Bullock, a frequent performer at the Lobby Lounge. While plates and glasses were refilled, local radio icons Bro Jake and Loverboy lead singer Mike Reno welcomed everyone to the Fairmont Pacific Rim, reminded us that the Lobby Lounge features live music seven nights a week and introduce Colin James to the stage.

With two decades of music to choose from he managed to pick an excellent selection of the Top 40 hits and fan favourites including classics, Five Long Years, Why’d You Lie and Just Came Back. Although a few technical difficulties and competing against a chatty audience, to start, clearly got under his skin, the sound was very good for a stage set in a luxury hotel lobby. The audience had more than enough die-hard Colin James fans to sing and dance along to every single so those who weren’t fans already were won over by the end of the hour long set as everyone joined in the singing. Being a small intimate show in such a comfortable setting, it felt less like a concert and more like a party in your living room that could still be going.
