This weekend launched the 2012 edition of The Fair at The PNE, kicking off an entertainment packed two weeks the Summer Nights Concert Series got underway with Heart on Saturday night and Canadian Country stars Emerson Drive on Sunday night.
Waiting around with the large and eager crowd, the band arrived late for their show due to a cancelled flight, they later explained. The delay did matter, the quintet jumped right into the swing of things and had the audience on their feet singing along to their upbeat county-pop. The very affable lead singer Brad Mates kept the crowd entertained with his energetic performance and humourous anecdotes about the band’s exploits and songs. Between he and fiddler David Pichette working the stage the energy level stayed upbeat for most of the show, save for a few softer slower tracks. The Summer Nights Concerts are included with the price of admission to The Fair and are definitely a great value, what could be better than capping of a great day at The PNE with a fun free outdoor concert?
