After 18 virtual concerts, Early Music Vancouver (EMV) brings its Digital Concert Hall to a close with Concerti Virtuosi featuring Pacific Baroque Orchestra & Vincent Lauzer on June 2nd.

For its 51st season EMV has kept audiences entertained with a spectacular line-up of beautiful music, with all of the concerts remaining online for the rest of the year for your enjoyment. Each concert features in-depth interviews between the artists and host Bill Richardson, author and beloved former CBC radio host of shows including Saturday Afternoon at the Opera and In Concert. Filmed at locations including the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at UBC, Christ Church Cathedral Vancouver, Christ Church Cathedral Victoria, and the Orpheum Annex, the concerts bring the concert halls into your living room.
Concerti Virtuosi, the season finale, filmed at Christ Church Cathedral Vancouver features the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, famed for bringing early music up to date with its innovative style, directed by Alexander Weimann. Quebec born Vincent Lauzer, an award-winning recorder player helps to bring the programme’s works to the stage.
The programme features four Italy-trained composers, who all found their careers later take them to London. The works in the program include:
Francesco Geminiani – Concerto after Corelli op 5/10, Giovanni Bononcini – Sinfonia to “La Conversione di Maddalena”, Georg Frederick Handel – Sonata in C-Major HWV 365, Giuseppe Sammartini – Concerto in F-major
Concerti Virtuosi debuts online June 2, 2021 at 7:30pm, at earlymusic.bc.ca. This and all concerts available on the EMV Digital Concert Hall are free, but if you are able, donations are welcome to help support EMV bring more beautiful concerts to audiences. Hopefully the 52nd season will be able to welcome audiences in person to the live venues.
