Where do you want to go? Vancouverites are lucky to have access to one of the best airports in the world, YVR is a destination unto itself. To entice and entertain locals and travellers alike for the last three summer’s YVR has created Take-Off Fridays.
Whether you’re looking entertain kids on school break, taking in a new activity with friends, or looking for another reason to arrive early for your next flight, there’s something for everyone. This Friday, August 31st, is the final Take-Off Friday of the season, head to YVR from 9:00am to 3:00pm for a full day of fun.
Savour sweet treats like smoothies from Jugo Juice, iced coffee and Frappucino samples from Starbucks, and other great goodies from Coca-Cola, World Duty Free, Vancouver Marketplace, Rogers’ Chocolates, and more. If you’re craving something a little more substantial, enjoy $10 lunch specials from nearly 20 restaurants located throughout the airport.
Check out live DJs and tons of free entertainment, including live acrobats, local musicians, and artists, a caricaturist, a balloonist, popular airside demonstrations and more. Kids will have a blast meeting YVR mascots, dancing to music, and getting their faces painted. If you’re travelling to the U.S. additional activities await in the USA Departures area offering even more to see and do.
Up in YVR’s Public Observation Area in the Domestic Terminal, kids and adults alike can explore interactive displays, quizzes and videos for a behind-the-scenes look at Canada’s second busiest airport. Check out airfield action up close with telescopes, discover Sea Island through an interactive model and learn all sorts of interesting facts about YVR, the history of flight in B.C. and all things aviation-related.
Getting to the airport is easy with a short 26minute trip from downtown Vancouver on Canada Line or take advantage of a special Take-Off Fridays parking rate of $5 for up to four hours in any of YVR’s lots – a huge bargain! Wrap up summer and take a trip to YVR before heading back to school next week.
