The reimagined 50th Anniversary tour of the iconic rock-musical JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, comes to Victoria’s Royal Theatre from January 2 to 7, 2024, following critically acclaimed, sold-out engagements in the UK.

Broadway In Victoria has announced tickets for the limited, one-week engagement of the 2017 Olivier awarding-winning production from Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre goes on sale to the general public tomorrow, Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10am, online at RMTS.BC.CA or in-person at the Royal and McPherson Theatre Box Office or by calling 250-386-6121.
With lyrics and music by multi-award-winners Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ, as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him’, ‘Gethsemane’ and ‘Superstar’.
Starring Jack Hopewell stars as Jesus, joined by Elvie Ellis as Judas and Jaden Dominique as Mary. Acclaimed director Timothy Sheader leads the North American tour of this iconic musical with cutting-edge choreographer Drew McOnie. The creative team also features costume design by 2016 Tony Award nominee Tom Scutt, with a set based on original designs by Tom Scutt, lighting design by Lee Curran, sound design by Keith Caggiano, with music supervision by David Holcenberg and music direction by Ryan Edward Wise.
Since its first performance in 1971, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has become a musical phenomenon with a global fan base. From West End and Broadway revivals, and NBC’s 2018 Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, which garnered over 9.6 million viewers, to the 2021 released special 50th anniversary editions, remastered albums, celebrating the original 1970 double concept album, shows the lasting endurance of the rock opera.
