Vancouver has a new downtown shopping and entertainment destination – Junction Public Market, opens today, June 28 running until September 29, at Granville Square.
Junction Public Market and partner Cadillac Fairview aim to bring vibrancy to the Vancouver Waterfront, with this unique marketplace created with customized shipping containers featuring rotating pop-up merchants, local artisans and makers, food vendors, a bar and a live entertainment stage. Granville Square’s easy access to public transit, parking and the visiting Cruise Ships. The Market is perched to offer the perfect spot to pick up a gift or souvenir, grab lunch with coworkers, or have an après-work drink with a view.
“Junction Public Market enjoys sweeping vistas of where the mountains and the ocean meet, overlooking the Port of Vancouver,” says Patrick Carnegie, a longtime public space manager and the co-founder of Junction Public Market. “We can see shipping containers being offloaded next door, which is echoed by our design motif. We’re in the heart of downtown, with commuters hustling to Waterfront Station and visitors disembarking from the cruise ships. This is the perfect spot for us to create a destination, like a piazza, where everyone comes to meet, shop and enjoy a taste of Vancouver.”
