Metro Theatre presents Sinners, a comical farce by Canada’s most produced playwright, Norm Foster until February 15th.

Part bedroom farce, part mystery farce, Sinners is all laughs. Focusing on a chaotic few hours in the life of Peter Kramer, an amiable but in-over-his-head furniture store owner played by Josh Zumstien. When Peter is caught in a compromising position with Reverend Lloyd’s wife, Monica, played by Jasmie Eadie doing her best femme fatale, he finds the following sequence of events cascading out of his control through a series of misunderstandings, assumptions and complicated cover-ups. It seems everyone in this town, has a reputation to protect from their secrets; the rectory being a hub of the community doesn’t help keep a lid on things. Diane Gillis (Colleen Brow) stops by to advise the Reverend of some very long-winded truths that hit close to home, while Police Chief Roy Cavanaugh (Liam Reitsma) and his social-climbing, busy-body wife Carolyn (Deborah Tom) are at hoping for different outcomes to their visit.
Under the direction of Angie McLeod, the cast makes light work of Foster’s sometimes mile-a-minute dialogue. Throughout the play, each character takes the centre of attention to varying degrees of likability but healthy doses of laughability. Even with the utter ridiculousness playing out, Set Designer Kathleen Hilton and Costume Designer Ella Hurley with Kelsey Torok’s lighting project a sense of folksy normality to this small town farce.
