In partnership with Punjabi Market Collective, The Monsoon Festival of Performing Arts celebrates the tastes and sounds of South Asian culture with Punjabi Market Live, this Sunday August 27th. The free outdoor street party takes place in the heart of Punjabi Market, on Main Street between 49th and 51st Avenue and run from noon to 6:00 pm.
A highlight of the Monsoon Festival of Performing Arts, this year’s Punjabi Market Live brings the community together with the spirit of multiculturism and diversity with live performances, DJ’s, dance, music, fashion, food, visual art and more.
Hosted by CBC’s Baneet Braich, the afternoon features Internationally renowned DJ’s spinning the sounds, performances by Canadian Artist and composer Cinnamon Sandhu, multi award winning music producer and artist Pav Dharia and the soulful sounds of rising star Gurtêj AKA NY Virtuoso.
A new addition this year is The Vancouver Canucks and Warriors Kids Zone. A family-friendly spot full of activities and fun. Fin the Canucks mascot will be on hand to take pictures behind the blue, green and white inflatable. There will be arts and crafts, face painting, and if you love lacrosse the Vancouver Warriors will have a net set up to practise your shots.
Shops along Market will be open and foodies will fill their appetites with traditional dishes from local restaurants. Food trucks will also be on site and there will be free chai and jalebis, a favourite Indian sweet available for all to enjoy. The entertainment this year is as diverse as the culture itself. From dance to music to DJ’s and performance art there is something for everyone.

Cinnamon Sandhu, an emerging artist of South Asian-Canadian descent, whose unique blend of talents as a singer, songwriter, and composer spans various genres.
Gurtêj aka NY Virtuoso, from Long Island, New York, is a singer-songwriter who weaves tales of love, heartbreak, and life’s journey through a captivating fusion of old-school rock and soulful R&B.
Pav Dharia, from Australia, started off his career as a music producer & video director, utilizing his versatility & creativity to produce multiple projects including the Award Winning album RED: One of the highest selling Punjabi albums of the ‘00s.
