Stage: Take a trip back to the nineties and high school at Riverview High. The musical comedy plays until Aug 25th at the Firehall Theatre.
Fest: Squamish Valley Music Festival brings Queens of the Stone Age, Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Gogol Bordello, Dan Mangan, and dozens more to Hendrickson Fields & Logger Sports Ground, August 8, 9 and 10.
Street: If you’re visiting Squamish for the Festival, make a sidetrip downtown for the 2nd annual “On The Steet” fair, Saturday from 9am – 4pm; pancake breakfast, sidewalk sales, Art zones, kids craft areas, music, food and marketplace all lining Cleveland Ave.
Benefit: Help Keep The WISE Alive with a benefit concert on Friday Aug 9th to support renovations to the WISE Hall’s roof.
Air: If music isn’t to your liking, take a drive the opposite direction to Abbotsford for the 2013 Abbotsford Airshow. Hundreds of aircraft on static display and in flight have been wowing the crowds for 5 decades. This year, be prepare to be wowed August 9, 10 & 11th.
Dress-up: Don your best hat and dress gear and take to the races at Hastings Park joining Vancouver’s young professionals for the annual Deighton Cup Weekend.
Dance: Give your feet a workout and check out Di2trict Saturdays at Ginger 62 with DJ Adam Dreaddy and DJ Adam Hennessy’s Birthday set on Aug 10th.
Blues: Beautiful Deer Lake comes alive with the sound of music from the Burnaby Blues & Roots Festival headlined by Blue Rodeo on Saturday Aug 10
Kicks: Feel the earth move as San Jose Earthquakes come to town to challenge host Vancouver Whitecaps in BC Place on Saturday at 4:30pm
Jazz: Let jazz legend Harry Connick Jr tickle your ivories at The Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Sunday August 11
