Happy May Day! As April showers bring May flowers for other parts here in Vancouver we’re already well into spring bloom and activities.
Show: Stop by The Biltmore Cabaret Thursday May 2nd for a multi-act show (pictured) with folk, rock songstress T. Nile leading the night of music. Also featuring Fields of Green, Dirty Spells, Colour The Wild and Melissa Bandura. Show at 9pm, tickets are just $12 at the door.
Spin: The 4th Intimate & Interactive features Spanish DJ Albert Neve taking over 1181. It’s a great opportunity to hear a world class DJ spinning tunes in the intimate lounge setting. Tickets are $65 and include two complimentary Absolut Vodka cocktails.
Scene: The 2013 DOXA Documentary Film Festival kicks off Friday May 3rd. Featuring 74 screenings at VIFF’s Vancity Theatre, The Cinematheque, Vancouver Playhouse, Rio Theatre, Collingwood Cinema, the Festival runs until May 12th.
Run: Sunday May 5th, all their training and planning comes to a climax as the runners take to the start line for the BMO Vancouver Marathon and Half Marathon. Thousands will be running through the streets of Vancouver before the sprint to the finish kicks in as they run for the glory of being a marathoner. Wrapping up with the BMO Street Festival at the finish line.
Youth: False Creek is packed with events for Vancouver Youth Week on Saturday May 4th from 11am to 4pm; Dragon Boating, 3-on-3 Basketball, ‘Race Around The World’ Competition, Skateboarding and Live Performance. Find out the full schedule and locations at vancouveryouthweek.ca
Play: It’s a sure sign that summer is around the corner, Playland opens for weekends beginning May 4th and running until June 30th when it opens 7 days per week for summer.
Sports: It’s time for playoff hockey and the Vancouver Canucks have made the postseason for the 5th year in a row. First round tickets are on sale now, for games beginning next week.
