Place des Arts welcomes sarod player, Dwaipayan Ray with tabla and sarod player, Hriday Buddhdev, for an intimate concert, The Art of Sarod, on Sunday, February 23.


Capturing the soul of Indian classical music, Ray & Buddhdev bring the precision and passion of the sarod to captivate the audience with its rich heritage and mesmerizing sound. Dwaipayan Ray is a multi-award winning sarod artist and scholar who infuses tradition, science and mastery to create a refreshing and emotional musical experience. Hriday Buddhdev is a Coquitlam born and raised sarod and tabla player who began his learning at the tender age of 4. Known for practicing his tabla on his desk at school the acclaimed artist was featured in CBC’s ‘30 Under 30 Hot Classical Musicians’ in 2023. After the performance, join the artists for a question-and-answer period and see the instruments up close.
The Art of Sarod is presented in collaboration with guest curator Nina Buddhdev of the Bandish Network, who connects artistic excellence to audiences throughout the Lower Mainland. She states, “I enjoy curating cultural experiences for Place des Arts as we share a passion for inspiring people to engage in the arts, enhancing interests and knowledge and encouraging our diverse communities to celebrate our histories.”
