Presentation House Theatre (PHT) has announced the Fall line-up of its 2023-24 Season, bringing world class works to the stage for the whole family to enjoy.
The Season will include a new work co-created with theatre wrede+ in Germany, a Spanish-language-only comedy series, the third annual STAND Festival, and returning favourites Baking Time and The Woman in Black.
The season gets underway in October with an international co-production between Germany’s theatre wrede+ and PHT: Heavy and Light. Developed and originally produced in German last year by theater wrede+‘s Marga Koop and Winfried Wrede along with PHT’s Artistic Director Kim Selody, this English-language Canadian premiere helps young children explore what it’s like to experience the world from a different perspective, as well as the basic scientific concepts of curiosity and observation.
Also for young children, a PHT classic Baking Time (right) returns during the holiday season. A multi-sensory, interactive production that takes place in the span of time that buns are baked on stage, this is the best-smelling show around.

While PHT’s specialty may be theatre for the very young, there is plenty on offer for older families and adults as well. CLASSical ACT Collective‘s spine-chilling production of Stephen Mallatrat’s stage adaptation of Susan Hill’s thrilling novel The Woman in Black may bring the building’s real-life hauntings to life over Halloween. PHT co-presents the theatre series for Blackout Arts Society‘s third annual STAND Festival. Unique to the North Shore, this festival focuses on showcasing and developing work by new immigrant and refugee voices.
The holiday season will get a festive start with PHT’s new Holiday Singalong, a casual and warm living room-style gathering for those who miss the old days of gathering around a piano to sing holiday songs, old and new. And to round things out, the theatre will host a Spanish-language-only comedy series created by Pablo Zacarias.
“Our artists are crawling out from under rocks, creeping into your mind, cooking up something delicious, and floating down into our theatre to bring you an electric, eclectic, thrilling and chilling, innovative program for this year,” says Artistic Director Kim Selody. “As usual, we have a very diverse offering that would intrigue anyone in your family, no matter who they are, where they are from, how old, or what their obsession is.”
