Ballet: Opening its 2026/27 inaugural season, Ballet Vancouver’s Balanchine’s Apollo & Other Works on stage September 11 & 12 at Vancouver Playhouse with a breathtaking triple bill anchored by internationally acclaimed Principal dancers Heather Ogden of The National Ballet of Canada, and Sasha de Sola and Francesco Gabriele Frola of San Francisco Ballet.

Exhibition: VIVA Alliance invites the public to Plasticity: The 4th Annual VIVA Exhibition, in partnership with the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre, from September 9-16, it brings together seventeen jury-selected artists whose works consider how bodies, materials, and systems are continuously shaped by pressure, contact, instability, and changing conditions.
Film: The 38th annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival comes first to Vancouver theatres from September 10–20, featuring 87 feature-length and short films by 2SLGBTQIA+ creators from around the world, alongside parties, filmmaker Q&As, workshops, and community events, centered on this years theme “A Seat at the Table.”
Comedy: September 10, embark on an adventure at Queen Elizabeth Theatre when Brennan Lee Mulligan’s Endless Dungeon brings a live, “actual-play” Dungeons & Dragons-inspired show, featuring improvised storytelling, adventure, and comedy to the stage

Fringe: From September 10 to 20, the Vancouver Fringe Festival returns to Granville Island and stages around the city, delivering eleven days of theatre, dance, comedy, drag, music – more than 80 shows – across 16 venues centered on Granville Island with shows spilling over to venues beyond the Fringe hub.
Open: The Dance Centre season begins this week with the annual Dance Centre Open House on September 12 – a full day of classes, shows and events offering the public a chance to experience a number of different dance styles throughout the Centre. Sculpture: Until October 18, 2026, The Polygon Gallery shows James Harry: Eye Of The Ancestor – a
new sculpture by James Harry marking The Polygon Gallery’s seventh collaboration and co-commission with Burrard Arts Foundation. Eye of the Ancestor is a striking yellow cedar wooden sphere, carved with Coast Salish designs on the surface and holding a mirror-polished steel sphere inside.
