Gateway Theatre celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival with its annual afternoon of music, creative activities and festive fun – Mid-Autumn Melodies on September 20th.
The Mid-Autumn Melodies afternoon begins with the family-friendly musical event in the Minoru Chapel. Performers Jason Sakaki and Tiana Jung with musician Clare Wyatt have prepared a one-day only concert of magical melodies from Disney and musicals. Guests will be treated to an hour of songs including “Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan, “Love is an Open Door” from Frozen, “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana, “Alone in the Universe” from Seussical and more. Making it a fun interactive event the audience will be invited to join in and sing along for a few of these fun songs.
After the concert, guests are invited to keep humming as they make their way across to Gateway Theatre where they can get creative with a paper lantern craft while enjoying complimentary mooncakes from Gateway’s beloved sponsor, Anna’s Cake House.
Prepare and decorate a lantern to take with you for your own mid-autumn celebrations on the Moon Festival (September 25). Whether the Mid-Autumn Festival is part of your family traditions or you’re learning about it for the first time, Gateway Theatre welcomes the whole community to spend the afternoon making memories, learning and celebrating the season together with your family and friends, old and new.
