Presentation House Theatre (PHT) has revealed its 2024 Winter/Spring Season, including returning classic Where the Wild Things Are, partnerships with Blackout Art Society and Ruby Slippers Theatre presenting new and diverse stories, thought-provoking theatre for young audiences that boldly navigates challenging topics through the magic of play, with immersive experiences, cultural richness, and insightful narratives.
Kicking off the season, Where the Wild Things Are is back by popular demand. The wild rumpus returns this February with a highly interactive production adapted from the timeless classic by Maurice Sendak.
Starting March, The Emigrants, a success at the 2023 STAND Festival, is an outstanding rendition of a Polish classic play, which resonate in today’s socio-political landscape. Delving into the complexities of immigration, it offers audiences a poignant perspective.
Wrapping up March, PHT partners with Ruby Slippers Theatre and Blackout Art Society to present the world premiere production of Dil Ka by Lee Nisar, a new comedy that navigates the intricacies of a South Asian family, as the daughter prepares a dish of biriyani for the family of her arranged marriage.
“Deeply rooted in immigrant communities’ rich and diverse narratives, these shows are not just performances; they are vibrant tapestries of culture, struggle, and triumph,” shares Blackout Art Society Artistic Director, Amir N. Hosseini. “We are proud to be a part of this cultural exchange and look forward to welcoming everyone to a season of meaningful, thought-provoking, and heart-touching theatre.”
