Last evening a selection of Richmond restaurants got to show off the diversity of the city on Vancouver Foodster’s Tasting Plates Richmond.
The rain held off and allowed the hungry Tasting Platers to venture along the No 3 Road corridor and taste what Richmond chefs have to offer.
Checking in at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, participants collected their Tasting Plates card and maps, then were seated in Harold’s Bistro for their first tasting plate. Harold’s Chef Tim Vu prepared a Crab Cake with a Chipotle Aioli and Corn Salsa.
Across the plaza at the Vancouver Airport Marriott, The American Grille served an al fresco tasting plate of fresh cut, pan seared Halibut topped with a mango and pineapple salsa alongside a Tuna Ceviche in a pastry cup.
On Alexander Road, the 5 month old Cocoru Chicken & Beer piled up a tasting plate with multiple dishes from their menu, specializing in deep fried chicken. Yangnyeom Chicken coated in sweet, spicy traditional Korean Yangnyeom sauce, Pa-Dak in a house sauce, Snowfall Chicken with Bechamel sauce and Grana Padano. As well as the usual ban chan, a side dish of deep fried toppoki with spicy sauce were a winning bite
At the foot of Aberdeen Station, the Richmond location of Pizza Garden offered a selection of their thin-crust pies hot from the oven, the location is perfectly located for a quick but tasty bite before hopping the Canada Line.
Up the road, at the Westin Wall Centre, The Apron always serves up uniquely prepared and presented dishes. Their tasting plate was no exception, an Albacore Tuna Poke was served with Avocado Crema and Ponzu Pearls on a house made Rice Cracker. A second bite was a house made Ricotta Tortellini on braised Lamb Shank with dehydrated Olive Crumble and Mint Pea Puree. A splash of colours came from a shot of a Wall Vesper, make with Long Table Distillery’s Vodka and Gin infused with Dak Anchan Tea, Triple Sec and Lemon to turn it blue to pink
