Ushering in the Year of the Snake, 4722 on the Chinese Calendar, brings a year of where chances for career or financial growth may present itself, especially for those who are flexible and can react to the opportunities.

Family Saturdays at Chinatown Storytelling Centre: every third Saturday of the month.
For the January 18th Family Saturday register to participate in a festive workshop where you can repurpose lucky red envelopes to create vibrant Lunar New Year Fish or Fan decorations to bring prosperity and good fortune into your home!
A Year of Blessings: A Lunar New Year Original Audio Play For Kids: January 18, 2025 at Museum of Vancouver 1pm & 3pm
Co-presented by the Canadian Chinese Museum and Museum of Vancouver, join Five Blessings for a staged reading of the Lunar New Year episode at the Museum of Vancouver, with Amanda Sum, Aidan Chan, Nancy Tam, Derek Chan, and Christopher Lam bringing this story to life followed by a presentation on the history of Lunar New Year celebrations in Vancouver by the Canadian Chinese Museum. This 45 minute event is suitable for kids three years and older.

Lunar Fest Lantern City: January 27-February 19, 2025 various venues
Lunar Fest’s Lantern City lights up the city with large scale lantern and art installations at Pendulum Gallery, Granville Island, North and South of Vancouver Art Gallery, and Bentall Centre
2nd Annual Chinatown Cocktail Showdown: January 31, 2025
The already sold out tasting event sees 8 of Chinatown’s finest bars and restaurants, including Bagheera, Bao Bei Brasserie, The Chickadee Room, Fiorino, The Keefer Bar, Kissa Tanto, Laowai, and Meo, battling head-to-head to see which mixology team can craft the best Lunar New Year-inspired cocktail.

Spring Festival Parade: February 2, 2025 starting at 11am
Chinatown’s annual Spring Festival (Chinese New Year/Lunar New Year) parade returns for its 51st year with thousands of revellers lining the streets of Chinatown to ring in the year of the Wood Snake. Parade begins at 11am on West Pender Street at the Millenium Gate continues to Gore Avenue then Keefer Street ending at Carrall Street
