It’s time to get your tickets for the next edition of Food Talks on June 11th. This eighth edition celebrates the 1st anniversary of Vancouver Foodster hosting these great evenings of food knowledge and networking. The guests are always terrific and inspiring and this edition features 5 of the city’s legendary, groundbreaking women chefs.
Chef Karen Barnaby: Chef, award-winning author, columnist are just some of her titles. Chef Barnaby is well known for being the former Executive Chef at the Raintree Restaurant and the Fish House in Stanley Park. Her current role is as Chef of Product and Business Development for Albion Fisheries, Intercity Packers, and Fresh Start Foods.
Meeru Dhalwala: One half of the duo behind the renowned Vij’s and Rangoli restaurants, Ms Dhalwala and her husband Vikram Vij have created a restaurant empire that is a leader in sustainability and social responsibility.
Susan Mendelson: In 1979, Ms Mendelson founded Vancouver’s legendary The Lazy Gourmet catering company. After 30 years of catering and penning multiple cookbooks this scion of food service shows no signs of slowing down.
Angie Quaale: Well Seasoned Gourmet Food Store was begin in 2004 by Angie after a many years in hotel & fine-dining food service. Also a champion BBQ pit master, the entrepreneur has won numerous accolades for her involvement in the Langley community.
Merri Schwartz: After a career working in some of Vancouver’s top kitchens, Schwartz founded Growing Chefs! Chefs for Children’s Urban Agriculture in 2005. This Vancouver-based, non-profit organization pairs chef volunteers with elementary school classrooms, where the chefs help the students plant, grow and cook their own vegetables.
Food Talks: Volume 8 takes place June 11th at 6:30pm at The Westin Grand. Join your fellow foodies to mix, mingle and enjoy some appetizers by the hotel’s chefs before sitting down to listen to the speakers. After host Richard Wolak will lead a Q & A session with the panel.
