Gateway Theatre presents a one-of-a-kind free event, Playing Fields: A Culture Days Event, September 20th.
The Chop Theatre Production is a collaboration inviting guests to Minoru 2, one of the Outdoor Sports Fields next to Gateway Theatre at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm on Saturday, September 20th, the opening weekend of Culture Days.

Upon the field, visitors will find themselves in a world of teenage dreams, worries, and hopes. If you’ve ever wondered what goes on inside a teenager’s head this is the event for you.
Playing Fields is a unique, youth-driven interactive performance that lets you to see the world through the eyes of teenagers. Participants will be provided with headsets, allowing them to listen to heartfelt and powerful stories about hopes, fears, and belonging from teenage voices across the world.
With simple interactive movements woven in, you’ll suddenly realize the field has come alive and you’ve found your place in something greater than yourself. If mobility is a concern, benches are available to sit on while listening to the audio and watching the magic unfold on the field for an equally captivating experience.

Perfect for teens, families and anyone curious about unique, interactive experiences that blend theatre, movement, and community. Whether you’re on the Playing Field or the sidelines, you’ll leave feeling connected and inspired.
Playing Fields: A Culture Days Event takes place September 20, 2025 at Minoru 2 – the playing field opposite Gateway Theatre, 6500 Gilbert Road, Richmond. The event is free with registration – recommended for ages 10+, those under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Visit gatewaytheatre.com
