Latincouver, the BC non-profit that brings together both Latin Americans and Latin enthusiasts, has launched Verde Vancouver, a project that aims to raise awareness of the needed actions to achieve climate justice and sustainability in British Columbia and Latin America.
Verde Vancouver has aligned its efforts with the City of Vancouver’s Climate Emergency Action Plan, in order to provide a space to connect, share and exchange ideas in a range of topics and views. “This initiative presents several ways of embracing sustainability from a diverse range of perspectives, from food to indigenous epistemologies along with plant-based education, agroecology and behavioral change through workshops, dialogues and podcasts” stated Pablo Zacarias, developer of Verde Vancouver and Latincouver’s Executive Director.
Committed to creating a space to shed light on the ecological crisis as an educational priority, Verde Vancouver offers a series of free online workshops and podcasts (many with Spanish & Portuguese translations) that combine thought experiments, artistic-embodied invitations, and the voices of speakers and Latin American Indigenous leaders, are running until December 14th on latincouver.ca/verdevancouver. “We want to play safe for all of us and reach as many people as possible. That is why we are committed to making it accessible, enjoyable, and functional for everybody. We are assured this project will change your mindset and will make you think about what is behind our daily actions,” commented Andrea Becerril, Project Coordinator at Latincouver.
