This Thursday June 9th, Massey Theatre in New Westminster presents the Canadian Premiere of All the Lonely People, by The Clowder Group, a not-for-profit filmmaking group and creator of critically acclaimed Gen Silent.

This new film about loneliness highlights stories of resilience in the face of social isolation. It places a human face on the hidden epidemic of chronic loneliness and social isolation. Through these stories we learn how people are overcoming social isolation, what professionals are saying, and how communities are responding to this prevalent social issue. Built on hope, it shares the latest research for individuals and communities and leaves audiences feeling empowered and reconnected.
“This is more than just watching a film. It’s a chance to reconnect after a life changing few years of isolation,” stated Stu Maddux, Writer/Director. “I personally feel the human connection that I’ve been missing when we are together seeing these peoples’ stories on screen and sharing afterwards how audience members have also stayed resilient.”
After the free screening of All The Lonely People at Massey Theatre at 6pm, co-presented with the City of New Westminster and Century House Association, a panel discussion will take place featuring special guests:
Stu Maddux – Writer/Director (The Clowder Group)
Chinu Das – City Councillor (City of New Westminster)
Margaret Lin – Social Prescribing (Fraser Health Authority)
Catherine Aoyama – Youth Counselor (Family Services of Greater Vancouver
Hannah Glavin, Shelly Schnee, and Jacklyn Altamura – Seniors Services – City of New
Westminster have stated a goal to have people from New Westminster and all over the Lower Mainland to contribute to the conversation and relate this topic to their own experiences and communities. The panelists will highlight resources, programs, ideas, and initiatives that pertain to loneliness, social isolation, and social connection.
While this project and discussion takes place over Seniors Week 2022, it’s recognized that these challenges are not limited to seniors. The last years have proven that social isolation is the responsibility of the entire community. The goal of this project is to use it as a catalyst for connection, encourage open conversation, and connect community members with the most valuable resource, each other.
