Jazz @ The ‘Bolt presents 25 groups and soloists including artists from Vancouver’s flourishing scene as well as a headliners from the contemporary jazz scene Mecca of New York City.
Kicking things off on Opening Night, Friday February 11th – NYC’s Mike LeDonne and the Groover Quartet will be joined by an all-star Vancouver big band. On Saturday and Sunday, from 11:30am to 9pm each day, hear non-stop jazz sets in 3 Shadbolt Centre spaces. Saturday’s showcase features a number of visiting NYC greats. On Sunday, the spotlight shines on Canada, with some of the hottest jazz players and vocalists from BC and across the country on stage.
If attending in person, guests can choose to hear some of everything, or get comfy in one room and enjoy full sets. Viewers of the online streams can take it all in. Jazz @ The ‘Bolt is the perfect weekend for lovers of great music – a full-on festival experience no matter how you enjoy it.

Friday, February 11, 8pm: Opening night concert
The weekend launches with a concert from New York’s Hammond B3 maestro, Mike LeDonne and the Groover Quartet plus a Big Band comprised of Vancouver jazz all-stars. The Groover Quartet is Mike LeDonne (B3 organ), Eric Alexander (tenor sax), Peter Bernstein (guitar) and Joe Farnsworth (drums).
Saturday, February 12, 11:30am – 9pm
Eleven bands including some of New York’s finest, perform fifteen sets over 9 ½ hours…live!
The lineup includes the renowned Alexander Claffy Quintet with tenor sax wonder, Nicole Glover, the acclaimed Michael Stephenson Quintet featuring trumpeter Benny Benack III, tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander and his Quartet, the celebrated sounds of pianist Anthony Wonsey and his Trio, and others. Plus Vancouver’s own Cory Weeds teams up with The Groover Quartet to perform songs from their newly-released jazz homage to Italy, O Sole Mio!
Sunday, February 13, 11:30am – 9pm
On ALL-CANADIAN day artists showcase the breadth and depth of this country’s jazz talent. Presented with assistance from FACTOR, this special event features groups led by KITT, Steve Maddock, and Amanda Tosoff along with The Tilden Webb Trio with Jocelyn Gould, Cory Weeds and Ryan Oliver with Strings featuring the great Phil Dwyer – and others.
One of the day’s highlights, The Ostara Project, is a co-operative septet showcasing some of Canada’s finest female musicians. The lineup includes Allison Au (saxophone), Jocelyn Gould (guitar), Sanah Kadoura (drums), Joanna Majoko (vocals), Amanda Tosoff (piano), Jodi Proznick (bass), and Rachel Therrien (trumpet).
