Gateway Theatre, like all Arts institutions during the COVID era, has had to revamp or cancel most of its programming. Thankfully restrictions have eased enough to allow Gateway Theatre Camps for Kids to return.
Registration is now open for Gateway Theatre in-person and online camps this summer. To ensure everyone’s safety and well-being, summer camps have been redesigned to include both in-person and online camps with health and safety measures in place.
Kids 8 to 13 will be able to enjoy a fun-filled summer while pursuing their passion for acting, building their confidence, making friends and having a great time.

Theatre Camp (in-person) July 13 – 17, 2020 9am – 12pm, at Quilchena Golf and Country Club (Mountainview Room), 3551 Granville Ave, Richmond
Class sizes are limited to eight children ages 8 – 10 years, to encourage proper physical distancing. Theatre Camp will be led by professional artist and long-time Gateway Academy instructor, Manami Hara, students will develop a variety of theatre skills and elements to explore creativity and self-expression. From story building to character creation, students will learn to work together and be encouraged to express themselves in a collaborative environment.
Participants who feel unwell or have any symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, sore throat, sniffles, etc) will be asked to stay home. Gateway Theatre is working with Quilchena Golf and Country Club to develop health and safety protocols that align with BC Health Authority Guidelines (details coming soon). Full refunds will be provided in the event camps are cancelled before they start due to COVID-19 reasons.
Musical Theatre Camp (virtual) July 20-24, 2020 10am-12pm Online
Following the success of transitioning to online classes in Spring, Musical Theatre Camp is the first online summer camp. In the comfort of their homes, students, ages 11-13 years will be immersed in the world of musicals with educator and professional choreographer, Nicol Spinola. Focusing on choreography and movement to musical theatre compositions, students will also explore acting and other aspects of musical theatre through fun class activities and engaging discussions with like-minded individuals.
Detailed instructions on how to access the class virtually will be communicated closer to the start date. Class size has been limited to 12 so early registration is recommended.
