The Cultch is has a new take on farm to table, with its latest production Farm to Fable, livestreaming until November 21st.
Vancouver actor Meaghan Chenosky, stars as Nadine, as well as all other characters in this cooking show within a Zoom show. Nadine has a lot on her plate lately. Her restaurant closed, she broke up with her boyfriend, and moved in with her mother, to care for…herself.
Like most people during the pandemic, Nadine has had to pivoted, by creating an online cooking show, with the audience joining in. However, not all goes as swimmingly as she’d hoped, her simple plan soon goes awry as she faces multiple interruptions and challenges. Her mother wanders into the proceedings, the cable-guy visits, deliveries come, ex-boyfriend causes confrontation, and along the way audience members join in live from Zoom; telling stories, poetry, and other personal anecdotes.
Each performance of Farm to Fable will find a new audience, new stories and a new show bringing a broad range of emotions, from comedy to drama to melancholy. Enjoy it night after night if you want to perfect the recipe and enjoy the company of dozens of others watching live with you. Written by Amiel Gladstone, (do you want what i have got? a craigslist cantata), the ‘melan-comedy’, is created specifically as a Zoom performance.
Farm to Fable livestreams nightly until November 21st at 7pm with a 4pm performance November 20th. Tickets can be purchased online at thecultch.com. Audience members can choose to shop for ingredients and cook along with the provided recipe, or simply sit back and enjoy the spectacle. The Cultch has also partnered with meal kit service, Fresh Prep, to deliver the ingredients directly to audience members who select the Chef’s Kiss Package.
