In these tumultuous times, a little levity goes a long way and Firehall Arts Centre has just the evening for you with its presentation of TJ Dawe’s Blueberries are Assholes. Playing until October 30th, TJ Dawe brings audiences an hour of observations and revelations about the most mundane. Dawe finds wacky and bizarre truths whilst taking a look at everything from the English language, food, the human body and more.

“It is great to have TJ Dawe back at The Firehall again, bringing audiences his Fringe hit, Blueberries Are
Assholes,” says Artistic Producer Donna Spencer. “And to make things even more fun-filled and entertaining, we have invited guest stand-up comedians to join TJ for this run. At each performance, we will feature one of Vancouver’s talented comedians prior to TJ’s show. I know we can all use a few laughs in our lives right now, so we are promising our audiences a barrelful.”
Dawe’s straightforward, TED-talk delivery makes his observations of the obvious quirks in our daily lives all that more revelatory, and hilarious. The hour-long performance speeds along while he’s enlightening audiences with his humourous and often tongue-in-cheek wisdom.
The evening is filled with an opening segment from a rotation of renowned local comedians. The hilarious Charlie Demers started the laughs on the first night of the run with his topical and timely humour touching on politics, sexuality and other news-worthy topics. In addition to Demers, the other opening acts include; Yumi Nagashima, Patrick Maliha, and Dino Archie.
Blueberries are Assholes runs at Firehall Arts Centre, 280 East Cordova St, until October 30, 2022. Visit firehallartscentre.ca for showtimes and tickets.
